Fierce fighting raged on Saturday between Syrian government forces backed by Russian air strikes and Islamic State militants in northern Aleppo province. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitor, said at least 16 ISIL fighters had been killed in a failed attack on a government position near the town of Al-Bab in the northeast of the province.
